I am new to fitness. I want to get in shape. I want to lose weight. I also want to put on muscle. I am just curious if I were to start working out and doing weights, would I need to up my protein right away to see results or can I wait and do that once I stop gaining muscle?
Most people don't, at least not at first. But if you want better results and faster ones, you will need to make sure you have enough protein and fat in your diet. Plenty of people get away with working out and not supplementing or altering their diets, seeing great progress. It is worth a try.
You can establish muscle and growth without it as a man. You should not have issues there. The issue you will run into is down the road when you do not have enough protein to sustain the muscle gains. You will basically stop seeing results.
I would say to add more protein once you notice no new growth or changes in 6 to 8 weeks.
Thanks for being honest. I am used to everyone just trying to sell me protein. I have seen and known of people that never used anything and did just fine, even without tracking their diets. I guess I will start out and see how it goes. If I don't see results, I will up my protein via diet. If nothing again, I will start supplementing.
