I know keto is meant to be a good diet for those looking to lose fat but also for people looking to up protein content. I tried it last year and my weight was dropping a lot but I also noticed I was losing muscle gains and I couldn't figure out what was happening. Then I realized, I changed my diet. Once I reintroduced carbs, I was able to put on some muscle again. I don't know if I was doing something wrong of if this is something that could happen. Does anyone know?
Most people lose it at a 3:1 ratio, especially doing keto longterm. It sounds to me like shrinkage, not loss. People forget that water loss and glycogen depletion on keto can make muscles appear smaller. Muscle holds some water content most of the time and this inflates them.

This actually makes a lot of sense. I have heard of some people saying they couldn't put on muscle whilst on keto (other forums/sites) but I never heard of losing it or having it explained like this. I considered doing keto but I feel like I would get bored with it way too fast.

I didn't even know this was a thing until now. I did look it up and it sounds like you could be spot on. I figured this was muscle loss but it would make sense that it would be shrinkage considering the protein content. I don't see many people talking about it either.
